Careers: Hospitality/Compensation for Sales & Marketing Manager

Question
Hello!  I am wondering how a sales/marketing manager is typically compensated.  Base salary plus bonus?  If yes,  what is the average starting range for salary?  Also, how does one determine the basis for a bonus?  Is there a sample formula?

Kind regards!

Answer
Entry level is 40-55K plus bonus, depending on the city, state, and location.  Small, remote cities will pay less, big cities and destinations can pay higher.   You should be able to advance to 75 to 85 K or more within 3-4 years.

typically bonus is up to 30%, when times are tough, some hotels offer unlimited bonus.

Bonus is usually paid quarterly, and is paid on achieving your future booking goals, and some hotels will pay on targeted consumed goals.
