Question
I am a senior this year and I plan to become a lawyer.  I am attending a college with a Pre-Law choice as a major.  My highschool law teacher and I were talking, and she thought it would be a good idea to major in History and minor in Political Science and/or Psycology.  I plan to becaome (hopefully) an attorny after completing college.  The college I am planning to attend has all these options for majors/minors.  What would be my best course of action?

Answer
Robert,

Many aspiring lawyers stress over what major to choose.  However, your undergraduate major is not a significant factor in law school admissions decisions.  Law schools seek a diverse incoming class with varying backgrounds.  Would-be law students might major in anything from English to Engineering.  What matters most is earning top grades in college and scoring well on the LSAT.

History, pre-law and political science are popular pre-law majors but most areas of study will suffice if you perform well in those classes. Choose a major that you are passionate about and you will do well.
