AboutAsad Raza Expertise Hello, I am a graduate of medicine. I can answer questions about medical school and in particular medical schools in the Caribbean.
Experience in the area I have done a lot of research and I have also maintained the website:
Caribbean Medical Schools - A Guide
www.CaribbeanMedicine.com
I am a recent graduate of Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean.
I have to make one of the biggest decisions in my life. All my life i wanted to do medicine. I had good A level results(4As) But i failed to get into med school in Pakistan (because of the crappy admission policy). So i was dishearted and applied for engineering abroad as i couldn't afford medical education abroad. So i got accepted in electrical engineering in national university of Singapore that is one of the top ten engineering universities in the world. And now here i am doing it. But i just cant relate to what i am studying and i still want to do medicine. I hate math. I thought ill get over it but....this happens:
I got accepted to a med school back in Pakistan(national university of science and technology). Its not the best med school but its quite good. But now i am in this dilemma of weather to go back to do medicine or stay here. It would have been easier if i would have not come here. Because now that i have seen a great university it wont be easy to go back to a Pakistani one. And with all the bombings and everything back in Pakistan my friends and family are very discouraging. They are like this is your chance to get out of this country. So the bottom line is "great University, bad course" vs "bad university good course".
The thing is i always wanted to go abroad and everything but people keep telling me that getting a license in US being an IMG is hard and they are like why do you want to loose opportunities at hand for those that might never come.
I am so confused. Its money vs passion. i would love to do medicine but in pakistan doctors dont have good pays( both my parents were doctors). But i dont know what matters more in life: passion or money. People keep telling me passion runs out.
Looking forward for you advice advice.
