Question
Thank you for fielding my question Dr. Carter.
I am a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science.   I have written my MCAT, and have scored poorly.  I got scores of 5,9,7,and 11. (the 5 was in verbal reasoning) I studied old exams and practiced timing myself, and still scored very poorly in Verbal Reasoning.  I understand your expertize is in answering questions about Optometry.  I am interested in specializing one day, but first must enter the medical program to do so.  Would you have any advice for how I could best prepare myself for the next MCAT writing in April?  I realize that you too must have written, and done well given your current status.  Again, any advice you could offer me would be of great benefit to me.
Thank you kindly,
Larissa

Answer
Actually, you do not take the MCAT to enter optometry school, as it is a separate program from Medicine (not a speciality...It's more like Dentistry, with its own school) and it has its own test.

However, I would advise that you look into taking a review course.  I know that Sylvan Learning Centers has them.
