why did you go into optometry and not apply to medical school ---> opthalmology? Or did you not get in to med school?

I almost checked that this was a rude question...not everyone WANTS to be physicians.  I like the hours of my profession better.  I would NOT be a good surgeon..and an ophthalmologist is primarily a surgeon.  What I like doing is helping people and having time to talk with them one-on-one.  Optometry is a lot better for that.  It is not an inferior profession to ophthalmology as you imply...just different.
