yes I do want to become a psychiatrist. I am currently an undergraduate right now and I wanted to know if there was anything I could do now (job-wise) to get started. Obviously I don't have a degree yet which makes it a little harder to do anything in the field right now. Even if it's something clerical in a psychiatrist office or something. Just so I'm around the actual field I want to someday be in. Thank you for the website you provided, I will check it out now.-------------------------

I understand that you are in the medical profession and I would like to know if you know of anyone I could talk to in the psychiatric profession. I noticed there is a heading for psychiatry, but no one to talk to. I have a lot of questions so if you do know of anyone or a forum like this with someone in the psychiatric field where I can ask questions then that would be a great help. Hi there,

to become a psychiatrist, you would have to do the following:

1) Get good grades during undergrad

2) Make sure you take all the required pre-requesites that you will need to gain admission into medical school

3) Take the MCAT Medical College Admissions Test (info here http://www.kaptest.com/)

4) Do some volunteer or extracurricular work to boost your application

5) Apply to medical school, info here: www.aamc.org

6) Attend medical school

7) After graduating from medical school, obtain and complete a residency in Psychiatry
