Question
Has there ever been a person become a meteorologist without going to collage? and is there a way to become a meteorologist without going to collage??

I know collage is highly recommended!

Answer
Hi Dobby

There have been a couple of people who became certified by the American Meteorological Society as being a professional meteorologist but it is very rare and mostly happened in the 50's and 60's.

The only way without going to college may be by going into the Air Force and taking classes that lead you into forecasting in the Air Force. The AMS may recognize an Air Force forecaster as being a professional.
