Question
Hi there!

How do El Nino and La Nina occur?
Also, how much rainfall fell from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans?

Thankyou very much

Steve

Answer
Hi Steve,

There is lots of information about El Nino and La Nina on the internet. A good place to start to answer your question is http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/tao/elnino/el-nino-story.html

A table of rainfall amounts from Hurricane Katrina at different met stations can be found at http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mob/0805Katrina/ and a radar image showing the area of greatest rainfall is at http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mob/cgi-bin/imageview.php?dir=/0805Katrina&file=KMOB_STP...

I hope this helps with your questions.

Regards,
Emily
