Question okay, I have only wanted to be a meteorologist for about a year, however i have always had a passion for it. When ever a storm hits or cool clouds are out i am excited. Since i have only known i have wanted to be a meteorologist for a year, i have no idea where to start. I want to learn about meteorology, and experience it. I have a fascination for tornados and Hurricanes, can you recommend camps or programs school subjects i should take. Where do I start?I am in tenth grade and 15 years old. Thank you so much.
Answer Study math and science in school. Do extra studies in areas like earth science and physical science. Also, take math up to Algebra 2 or pre-calculus. Don't overload on math, but take enough to understand meteorological formulas.
Another good thing to check out if you have a big interest in storms is a Spotter training program, which you can find out about from your local National Weather Service. Usually the training programs are in the late winter-late spring. When you complete the program, which is free, you can call in for storm reports to the NWS and it will help them issue warnings faster.
