Question
what is the relation between wind direction and temperature inversions?

Answer
Hi Bemnet

Basically, none. However  a low level inversion is best created with no wind so that there is no mixing because mixing of air destroys inversions.

Aloft, say a couple of thousand feet, wind speed is still a factor but there is no requirement for calmness.

Wind direction is not a factor in either case.
