Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/AF Enlistment Waiver

Question
Hello. Can you give me some advice please? I'm looking at going into the AF Reserves and am wondering what my chances are of getting a waiver. I just turned 34 and when I was 17 I plead no contest to a 3rd degree felony to which they withheld adjudication on me since it was my only offense and I just paid a few hundred dollars in restitution. I have been in no other trouble since and only have the one withheld felony.

I've got about 92 college credit hours with a GPA of 3.9 now and recently took the ASVAB with an AFQT of 89 and M97 A92 G85 and E90 scores which I was told were excellent. I know they use the whole person approach and am curious since that was the only time I got in trouble, it was a long time ago, adjudication was withheld and I have demonstrated exceptional standards during the many years since, if I stand a chance of getting a waiver approved.

Any thoughts, of suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

Answer
If they dont approve that waiver , Ill call them my self and tell them that they are friggin idiots!!!

Dont worry...with the education that you have received since your felony, one will wash the other...the Air Force does know that we humans are not perfect by any means...

ad Since you are looking, unless you have a good paying career...go active first!! you will get more out if it experience wise. Besides either way its 4 years.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
