Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Age requirement current for Air Guard

Question
I have gone through 5 recruiters in California, called the National Guard Association, and the J-1 Directorate at the National Guard Bureau to ascertain what is the current regulation, including any waiver for the maximum age for prior service, non- Air Force to be accepted into the Air Guard. The answer from the recruiters is that they don't know but are working on it, and there is an upcoming regulation change. The answer from the the J-1 Directorate was silence, and the answer from the National Guard Association contact was to get in touch with my local Congressman. All this to find out what the current policy, much less the pending one, is. If we do the math I'm 41 and 3 months.

Answer
Well I can tell you that if you have a recruiter tell you tat he is working on it and thats all you get its probably because   he is new and his boss is telling him to work the younger generation...the bookable ones to make goal....

Its been my understanding that if you are prior service, depending on the break in service you have, they subtract your active duty time from your age.

I would keep calling, but call other recruiters...OUT of state until you get an answer for sure. The best way to get an answer is to tell them you are calling for a research project....be creative.

Some recruiters are stones that need to be rolled over if you get my drift.

I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
