Question
I'm thinking about putting in an application for OTS as a Pilot.  My question is, do I have a good chance of making it?

I went to a good college, graduated with a 3.3 average with a degree in history and photography.  I'm very smart, good test taker and I am in very good shape so the physical wont be an issue.  I am 23 years old, I am married and have a young daughter.  Should I waste my time?  The recruiter I spoke to said that I should apply for Navigator or Battle managment which I'm not really interested in.

Thanks,
Chris

Answer
Sounds to me like you have already talked to the OS recruiter!! Thats classic...But I know why he said that. You are basically running out of time. You at 23 have a long row to hoe. If you apply for battle management or Navigator, it get you into the Air Force as an officer....a plus...good pay...You can attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical College which is at all AF installations to get your Aeronautical Science degree. You will also have to get a pilots license, there is the Aero Club that you can get ground school taken care of...there is alot to get done.
You may not be interested, but you at this point are on the outside looking in...If you get my drift

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
