Question
Hi, I'm an officer in the IRR and I'm scheduled to go on active duty in about a year and a half (I'm in graduate school right now). A doctor diagnosed me with adult adhd and prescribed strattera. I was wondering if you have any insight into how the Army will handle this. I've read the policy regarding recruits, however I wasn't sure exactly how the Army treats current soldiers who take adhd medication. Particularly, is there any difference in the standards for medical review regarding enlisted soldiers and officers? Thanks in advance for any insight you might have.

Answer
Nate...

Sorry that I havent goten back to you as soon as I would have liked...I had a death in the family...

I take it that your private doc is the one who perscribed the medication. What I know is that you can not take this stuff while on active duty. You probably will not need it anyway after you leave college. Enlisted folks can not enter active service untill after 2 years after they quit taking the meds. I am not sure about the officer tier..
