Question
I am a 17 year old high school senior and I am planning on enlisting in the Marines once I get my diploma in June. I have been told about the Delayed Entry Program and am considering going into it. I know my parents would have to sign since I am a minor, but would the Marine Corps let me go into the DEP to leave in June if I do not have my diploma yet but am still in school and scheduled to get it in May?. Also, what health issues are disqualifying and not able to be waived during the enlistment process? I do not have any issues with my health that I know of, but Im worried because I want to go into the Infantry which I know is demanding physically, so Im sure they check your physical condition very well before they let you enlist.

-Thank You

Answer
Rob:

Shouldn't be an issue in my opinion. Go to www.leatherneck.com/forums and check out the site for more detailed information from Marines doing the job right now.  You should be able to DEP with no problem as long as you are on track to get a HS Diploma.

There are too many health issues to detail but you shouldn't have an issue.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.

Experience
