Question
hi, my name is adam and im planning on joining the coast guard, my questions is actually just about meps. Ive had 3 hernia operations with no complications of any kind and i dont have any hernia currently, and my last one was 5 years ago. I gave my recruiter my medical records and he said after i take the asvab hes going to send my papers to meps to get me approved to get a physical. Am i going to be disqualified because of my operations? i also had gastroenteritis which is the stomach flu, lol but i was hospitalized for dehydration for 2 hours so im not worried about thatm I was just wndering if im going to be disqualified because of my operations even though their wasnt any complications. Any info is really appreciated, thank you so much.

Answer
Adam,

Sounds to be like you should be ok. Just be sure that you do not divulge ANY information that isnt on the medical form. If you didnt list it...Keep your trap shut. The reason that I tell you this is that this is how they weed out folks.... If you have something to tell anyone ...save it for your recruiter and tell him or her after the school is done...
