Question
My husband left to go to boot camp on Jan 2,2008. We have not yet recieved any pay into our account. When will he recieve a deposit.  Also approx. how much should he be getting a month?  We have one infant and I am not sure if he is getting BAH while in boot camp?  I live in Florida, do you know how much BAH is for this area?  Also I heard my husband will get out of boot camp as an E3 because he sighned up for 6 years is this true?  Thank you for your time!

Answer
Ok...here is another classic time where I really want to kick his recruiter in his ass....This is information that his recruiter should have provided not only to him but to you as well.

Pay - Should start with in a month or so, if you didnt get it on the first, you should get it on the 15th. This takes time....its normal

BAH - If I remember right you should get BAH for the city you are living in until you are PCS'ed to his first base. Plus you should get BAS which is grocery money.

E-3...He should get his stripe in Tech school. They either get it when they graduate or at 23 weeks... most get it when they graduate, He should be getting paid for E-3 right away after BMT....just cant wear the rank...

But that changes from rotation to rotation sometimes....I have heard rumors...

Let me know if you need further assistance, there are people I can get you in touch with...

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
