Question
Hello,
My son is graduating this year and wants to enlist.  He is interested in a law enforcement career ultimately.  He wants to start in the military and go the the academy later.  We thought he was settled on the Navy, but now the Army has been talking to him and he is unsure.  Is there one branch over another that has a better Military Police program?  He eventually wants to be a K9 officer.  Do any of the branches offer that?  My husband and I will go with him to visit the recruiters before signing.  Is there any specific questions I should ask?  I would like to be prepared and speak intelligently so he can all be well informed and make the best decision for his future goals.  PS. We have family ties to the Navy, which is nice, but not a deciding factor.
Thank you for your time and your service to our country.

Answer
Have your son check into the Air Force, They ahve a great program for Law Enforcement. THey have the Community College of the Air Force where they will get a 2 year degree in Criminal Justice Administration. After they are in for one term, they can pick up the K-9.

Deployment rates are less than that of the Army and its an overall better program.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
