I've been in the Air Force for about six years now and still a Senior Airman (I know, I missed the last test by 1.6) and recently cross-trained into Radio and Television Broadcasting.  My girlfriend is in DEP in the Air Force for Security Forces.  We want to get married, but by the time she completes her Tech School, I would have already tested for Staff Sergeant and quite possibly made the cutoff mark.  Is there a safe protocol on how we can still get married even though she would be an A1C?

You should be ok in the fact that she is not in your direct chain of command. I would let you supervisors know before you get married.

I would make your engagement public, have it in the newspaper...that sort of thing, this way you have proof that you as a future NCO didnt seek out an airman for marital purposes.....

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
