Question
QUESTION: My husband is getting out January 2009, but we are still trying to have a child.  If we get pregnant say in June, the baby wouldn't be born until March 2009.  Would he have to stay in until the baby was born even though his enlistment is up in January or can we leave for Arkansas as planned?

ANSWER: Connie:

No.  He would be able to EAS on time, barring any other issues not related to the pregnancy.   Your being pregnant has no bearing on when he gets out, unless he extends or re-enlists.  If he is scheduled to get out in Jan of '09, then he'll get out, unless he is hit with 'stop loss'.

QUESTION: One more question, Will I need other medical insurance set up to make sure that I am covered for the baby or will the Marine Corps cover us till the baby is born?  I know some insurance companies to not cover "pre-existing" conditions which this would be considered one.

Thank you so much.

Answer
Connie:

Unless he extends his tricare coverage (which I'm not sure he can even do, or could afford to), no, you will not be covered by tricare once he is out. He needs to check into this and see how much it costs, or if it's even possible to do this anymore.

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
