what is a courtesy enlistment? i keep reading about it in regulations, but it never defines what it is exactly. im really wondering. and how does someone even apply for that?
A courtesy enlistment is where.....Lets say that you are from Montana and soon after your whole family packs up and moves to California.... Since you joined the military in Montana, and now will leave for BMT in California, the recruiter now has to do a "Courtesy Enlistment" with the recruiter in the new area in California. Its mandatory that you remain supervised once a month while in the DEP. So we do the Courtesy Enlistment with the gaining recruiter so that he can take care of your needs while you are there, ad we then transfer your enlistment documents to the gaining MEPS in California so that you can lave to BMT from there with out having to travel back to Montana just to leave to BMT.....

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
