Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/too old???

Question
I will be 46 in February. I was in the Army Reserves from February 1991 and honorably discharged in July 2001. I was going to re-enlist in 2002. Scored high on the ASVAB retake but I had trouble meeting the "fat" requirement (even though I weighed less than when I was in and I think I shrunk!). My military career wasn't all that - I was one of about 9 females assigned to an infantry unit and there were only so many slots and I was only an E4. 2 of the other females were in almost 20 years and still were also E4. Well, I'm still having this nagging need to go back in - but I'm afraid I might have waited too long this time. If there's a chance - please direct me me in the right direction to re-enlist or do you think it's worthwhile to even try again. Pros? Cons?

Answer
I can feel your pain... The military is in our blood and will always be. I am thinking that you ae bouncing on the too old side now. I beleive that 47 is the cut off but no too sure.

There are other ways to serve. There is the TSA that you can get in. This is the federal agancy that does airport  screening etc. This is a federal position and your military time will count.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
