Question
I got a domestic violence charge a year ago. I did not hit her or anything, they supposely droped it down to criminal mischeif as long as i didn't get in any trouble and did all the classes required for it. The marines are going to try to get me in i was wanting to know if the navy would and what can i do to help. i'M 24 YEARS OLD all i have wanted to do is be in the military i just want a  chance to serve my country. If i had hit my ex-wife i woyuldn't be writing to find out but' i never hit her or any girl for that matter. If any way possible let me know please!!

Answer
As long as you are off probation, which is what staying out of trouble is, and your classes are complete.  However, it has to be guilty of mischief, if the domestic violence stays there you would be no go for any military.  All services use the same criminal criteria to get anyone enlisted.  So yes, the Navy could help you as well.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
