Question
Is it right that I am pregnant due in July in a unit that is mobing in Oct. it is DEC and I was told that I am being transferred out because I am pregnant. can that happen? I am aware of the after delivery recovery time, and was advised that it was physicians final word and that I can get a waiver for the 4 month recovery time? I feel i am being screwed by my unit. I am in a hard slot with a bonus how does that affect my bonus?

Answer
Pregnancy does not affect your bonus.  You are usually cleared for duty after two menstrual cycles after you give birth, as long as everything else is ok.

Do not feel you are letting your unit down, you can join another unit to do your duty if you feel that strongly about it.  You are being transferred now because you cannot do all the train up that is required I am sure.

Don't fret, celebrate your pregnancy and focus on your health which is more important to the Army now.

Good luck

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
