Question
i know this isnt what your profile says your all about but here it goes.

im from philly, im still in high school, and im in the marine corps DEP. last year i got locked up twice underage drinking, and possesion of marijuana. i also was in the hospital a few times in my life.

when i enlisted, i went into detail with my recruiter about everything including my criminal stuff and hospital visits and he said to keep everything from our friends up at MEPS. i heard the phrase fraudulent enlistment at least a thousand times up there but i put trust into my recruiter and said nothing about anything. now im getting worried.

he tells me they will never find out if i keep my mouth shut and he did the same thing when he enlisted

the Marine Corps has been my dream since 9/11. im going infantry. i dont wanna screw this up and plus i plan to make a career out of this.

WHAT DO I DO??

Answer
Kev:

First, stop smoking dope, dope.  Second, stop drinking underage.  Both are things that will get you booted from the Corps IF you make it in.  The drugs for sure.

If you were locked up/arrested, that means you have a juvie record.  This will eventually be discovered, and you'll likely get booted for fraudulent enlistment.

The hospital stuff isn't that big a deal, but if you have a juvie record it's going to come back and bite you.

I'd contact the SNCOIC of the recruiting station and explain your concerns, then go from there.  Better to be dropped and have to re-apply with a waiver, than be discharged.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
