Question
Hey Jason, I have some questions regarding the CI/HUMINT MOS. I am currently a radar technician, and I've been working in my MOS for only 7 months. I am a 2-year LCpl due to some medical setbacks in my school. My first question is: Is CI/HUMINT hurting for people enough that the Marine Corps will let me lat-move in the next 6 months? Both my parents are not U.S citizens nor do they plan on doing so. My dad is Portuguese, and my mom is British. Will that keep me from even being considered? Any other insight you may have about this MOS would be very helpful as well. I heard they have exceptions for "senior Lance Corporals" going CI/HUMINT. Thanks.

Evan

Answer
Evan;

 While it's possible they may waiver your time, the citizenship is going to be a major stumbling block in that MOS.  If you have a clearance already in your job, then it perhaps won't be that much of an issue.

 My suggestion is to hunt up the local CI guy at your duty station, and have a sit down with them.  If they want you bad enough and you meet the qualifications, they'll bring you aboard.  That's the first thing I'd do at this point.  The CI team should be in the base phone directory, if they aren't, contact your local Intel section and they'll point you in that direction.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
