Question
Sir,

I was disenrolled from Army ROTC January 5 2006, charged with misconduct and breach of contract. I was 4 year scholarship recipient. I elected to pay back the debt of 23K.  However, 6 months later I enlisted into the US AF for six years as an E-1 with no bonuses or enlistment incentives. My question is since my debt is not only owed to the Army, but also the United States, what are the chances of my debt being forgiven with my 6 year enlisted service to the USAF. Even though it is not the Army, I am still enlisted in the military more the maximum amount of time ROTC could have ordered me to go which is four years, which satisfies the time for enlistment. Sir, I greatly appreciate any incite you can provide on this matter.

Answer
Get in touch with your commander and see if his office can influence that decision... the one thing is that since they got you on breach of contract... that is a decision that the Army makes....even though it is all DoD...it was the Army paying for your college...

I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
