Question
Here's my question would it be possible for my hubby to get back in? My hubby who is prior Marine served from 1998 to 2001 and currently in Army has been wanting to get back in the Corp. His ETS out of the Army is Feb. '09. Well we've waved our options and spoke to numerous recruiters about him re-enlisting back in the Corp. All we get is that he can't because of what his rank was when he got out which was an e-4(LCPL). The thing is he has been itching so bad the feel and rush of being back in the Corp kills him and it also hurts me as a military spouse to see my hubby so unhappy in the Army. Do you think by any chance that he could get back in the Corp.

Answer
Kay:

An E-4 is a Corporal, not a LCpl, but it shouldn't matter from what I can see.  The only thing I can think of as a reason why is that he may have reached maximum service limitations for his rank.  That's the only thing that makes sense as to why they would say he couldn't go back in.

If he has been in the army since 2001 or 2002, then the maximum service limitation rule might be the issue.  If that's the case, then he won't be able to transistion.

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
