Question
hi howard, i hope you can help me.

my husband just joined in the army national guard as a 92A feb. 11th, 2008. i know it's not really your field but i can't find anyone to ask. he hurt his arm while he was at processing, awaiting his departure for boot camp. He went to see a doc there, and they claimed him a 'chapter 2', my husband said he was medically discharged. "the tissues in his right arm cannot make it through bootcamp," the doctor said.he is just starting his paperwork to be sent home, but we don't know exactly what is going on, and what steps he must go through, or if he really is medically discharged. How long does this process normally take? he says there is no one there he can talk to to figure out what is going on. How might he go about speaking with a JAG? is there any way we can have him sent home sooner, frankly the enlistment was a major mistake for the both of us, we were not mentally or physically ready for this at all. We just want him back home.

also.. it might have been a possibility that his arm was hurt before he enlisted. how much trouble can he get in for fraudulent enlistment? what would be the steps taken for a discharge on those terms? and how will it affect him legally?

thank you for your time, i'm just looking for some answers to ease my restless mind.

Answer
Medical discharges can tak up to 3 weeks. While the paperwork is being processed. He shouyld be home soon. Now if he has the Jag look into it, it may be longer before he comes home. While he is there..the money keeps coming.... kind of a bright side...

I would guess that he should be home with in the next 3 weeks or so.
