Question
I am 36 years old and just got back from meps(trying to join the army national guard).  They disqualified me cause of a metal plate in my shoulder.  The doctor said he was going to recomend me a waiver but got busy and didnt get it on my paper work. I dont know much about the process and am worried that I wont get in. I did get a 93 on my asvab, passed the rest of the physical and am eager to join.  Is there anything I can do to get the process through or is it out of my hands and what are my chances since the doctor didnt write it down.

Answer
Pretty much once the CMO or Chief Medical Officer goes yay or nay, its a done deal. The only other thing you might try doing is having you doc send a letter to the CMO at the MEPS. IF that dont do it... there are other things that you can do to serve. There is the FBI, DEA, ATF, Department of the Treasury, Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security,,,,etc. There are several hundred government jobs that you can get into, not as easily as the military Ill agree, but the Federal service is pretty much the same. Give it a shot..

If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
