Question
I have considered becoming a helicopter pilot. Currently, I am a junior in college majoring in Finance. I realize that becoming a pilot is competitive. What is the current demand for helicopter pilots? If I entered OCS and was not admitted into flight school, would my chances of becoming a helicopter pilot terminate?

Answer
Your answer depends on what branch of service you plan on entering. The only service that offers Helo Training straight up is the Army. Most Helo pilots are trained in Fixed Wing flight first to get the basics of flight first. You need to re think what you are taking in college now... If you plan on getting a career in aviation, you need to re gear your education into that field. having a degree n finance in no way shape or form helps you with a career in aviation unless you plan keeping the books for an airline....savvy? You stand a better chance of getting a military career in aviation....having a degree in that field...

If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
