Question
I was wondering, I was diagnosed with BiPolar disorder in 9/2004.  I disagree with the diagnosis and went off all medications on 1/2005.  I have had no relapses or anything.  Also, I have had several doctors say it was a misdiagnoses.  What do I need to do to at least get into the National Guard.  I live in Missouri.

Answer
Dear Frank -

you will need a doctor that will certify you were misdiagnosed.  Then you will need to visit a  recruiter. With your recruiter, you will have to determine if you are otherwise qualified for military service. If you are qualified, you will have to be evaluated by military doctors. Those doctors will determine if they believe you're  healthy enough for military service.  If they do not feel you are healthy enough, you can apply for a waiver. If you do have bi-polar disease disorder, you are unlikely to receive positive adjudication on your medical waiver.

Good luck to you!
