Question
I have wanted to get involved in the military for some time now and every time something seemed to stop my chances of going in (Parents refused to let me go to the Citadel for college and since I was 17, I needed their permission, broken ankle 2 years ago right before I graduated with my B.A.) but now I'm finishing my M.A, am completely healed and in shape, and I have been considering the AF Reserves.  I would really like to be an Intelligence Officer and get trained in languages if possible.  Do they have such programs available for Reservists?  I am learning Arabic next year and have an interest in learning Farsi and Urdu as well.  Is the training longer than if I just did AF reserves?

Answer
what you are looking for is the Linguist or Airborne Crypto linguist. The training is long for either. You will have to pass the AFOQT (Air Force Oficer Qualification Test)with 80s or above in all catergories. You will also have to take the DELAB(Defense Language Apptitude Battery)passing this will determine what language you will be able to get into.

If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
