Question
Hello,
I resigned my commission as a CPT in the ARMY IRR about two years ago. Is it possible to rejoin? If so, will I retain my initial rank, time in grade, etc? And if possible: What steps would I need to take to rejoin?

On last question. Is Military branch transfer an option?
Thank you
Tim

Answer
Dear Tim --

If you left of your own volition, and have positive classification on your discharge, you may re-join the Army and keep your rank.  You will likely keep your branch, if you desire, but you can also change branches.  You will have to take the career course for your new branch.

I do not have a specific Army contact for you concerning re-entering Army service.  However, if you ask that question at this following web-site, they should direct you to the correct office:

If by changes branches you mean, change military service to Navy or Air Force, I believe you will have to visit their recruiter to see if you qualify.

Best of luck to you.  Please write back, if any other questions arise.
