Question
I'm doing a report on the Marines and I have a few questions...

1. Where are Marines stationed?
2. Can Marines be stationed close to home(like KY)?
3. How often are they re-stationed?
4. Do they live in barracks or in a home?
5. Once they are stationed at a base, are they allowed to leave that base?

I'll probably have more questions later. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Kelsey:

1. Where are Marines stationed?

Marines are stationed all over the world.  Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East.

2. Can Marines be stationed close to home(like KY)?

Not generally.  Unless you are in the Reserves, which are on active duty 1 weekend a month unless put on full time active duty.

3. How often are they re-stationed?

Marines get orders usually every 4 years but some can remain at their duty stations longer.

4. Do they live in barracks or in a home?

Barracks is 'home' for single Marines.  Married Marines can either live in base housing, or off base in regular civilian houses.  Base housing is very nice and the barracks that single Marines live in are usually 2 man rooms.

5. Once they are stationed at a base, are they allowed to leave that base?

Yes, of course.  When not deploying or doing field excercises, they have time off and leave the base.

Best regards,
Jason

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
