Question
"I'm a little bum out about what happened today.

My son is trying to enlist in the USCG but when he went down to Meps
for his physical his blood pressure readings where high all 4 times. He
was informed to take the letter that was given to him to his private
Doctor for further testing. He went the next day an all 3 reading fell in
between 140/90.He went the following 2 weeks after that and everything was
okey.He return to meps yesterday March 25,2008 his weight was fine but
they did not do a blood pressure check, instead they put in a waiver
for him and now he has to wait until is approved or not.My question is
why was the blood pressure test not retaken at Meps."

and was asked on 03/26/2008

Answer
Becasue it could just be "White Coat Syndrome" Some people not knowingly get tense when around doctors or people in white coats....the Blood Pressure goes up. The USCG probably sent to the surgeon general for final approval. Its common sometimes, but then there are sometimes that they find an issue as well. Sounds to me that they didnt find an issue in this case, but it needs to be accepted by the SG.
