Question
Ok so I had a friend tell me that there is a program where you get training, etc to join the air force without being enlisted. I was unaware this was possible. I'm a junior in high school and am interested in joining but I need a little more information than what he is giving me and he doesn't know much(he doesn't know if there is a website either). All he said was it isn't going to be like boot camp where you get up at 5 in the morning and stuff but there is going to some training like that, just not as intense. Do you think you could provide me with some programs or websites? It would be greatly appreciated.
Have a nice day,
Shannon

Answer
Shannon,

If you want to join the military but not be enlisted, the that you wopuld make you an officer. Officers careers require a 4 year technical degree for pilots or a basic BA in a subject. If you have a problem with getting your education paid for you can get that taken care of by enlisting...

If you want to go other routes, you can look into the ROTC detachments at some colleges or at the USAFA or the air force academy. I am not sure on what your grades are, but if you want to get these scholarships....they will have to be top notch and you will have to be a captain of the sports team or in a leadership role.

I entered the Air Force to be an officer...after I seen wht My buddies were going thru to be an officer....I said that the enlisted life was much better!!

I have been in 20 years, they go out 15 years ago!!

Here are some sites to look at to get you started....

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
