Hi, my name is Chris. I'm currently a senior in high school, and was planning on joining the NAVY after graduation. But I have a big problem! I'm only 17 years old, and got a criminal OUI.I don't go to court for it till 2 weeks from now. I might be able to get it dropped down because of certain circumstances that happened while being arrested. Anyway my question is. Will this hold me back from joining?
Its going to make getting in a little more difficult. What you need to do is get the matter resolved and then stay out of trouble for a year. WHen a year is over and they can see that this was an isolated incident, then its easier. A waiver will still more than likely be required because its an Alcohol related incident.
Your best recourse is that if you are UNDER THE AGE!! Stay the hell away from it!!! You can kill a future in the military....you just damaged yours....

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
