Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/ANG to PLC

Question
I'm trying to decide what to do. I'm about to start college and can't really afford it. I have always wanted to serve, but most specifically I want to be a US Marine officer.

I'm thinking it may be a good idea to enlist in the Air National Guard to serve part time, get used to the military life style, and pay for college (they will cover 100% tution at any SUNY/CUNY school) but I'd also like to do the USMC Juniors/Seniors PLC program.

If I were in the ANG, would I be allowed to attend PLC? If I completed PLC, would I be able to leave the ANG without any problems and accept a commission in the USMC? If for some reason I couldn't pass PLC or don't get accepted I would have no problem serving out a ANG obligation.

thanks
Mike

Answer
Mike:

You really need to talk to both a USMC recruiter, and an ANG recruiter, because I don't know if the ANG will let you do the PLC thing or not.  While it's possible, the ANG recruiter would likely have the answer on that one.  I'm thinkin that you can do it, but I'm currently deployed to Texas myself, and don't have access to my normal sources.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
