Question
I am getting out of the Navy in July and was wondering if such a thing exists as "house-hunting" leave... I've heard rumors but haven't really found anything concrete. Thank you.

Answer
Dear Denise --

In the Army we use permissive TDY for house hunting.  That means we are not using leave, but have to pay for the trip ourselves.  We can take up to 10 days permissive TDY for house hunting.  The 10 days is the full amount of time we can be away from our duty station, including travel time.

The Navy will have a program like permissive TDY, but I am not sure what the Navy calls their program.

Good luck to you.  Thank you for your service.
