Question
I am 20 years old, a college sophmore, and will be graduating from college with a Bachelor's in Public Health in two years. I am set on joining the military as an officer.  I am considering all branches, though I am leaning toward Air Force and Coast Guard.  I am confused about officer specialities and placement.  When I graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, then go to OCS, what officer speciality will I be put in, and do I go to training for 6 months or someting after OCS?  Thanks in advance for you help and advice.

Answer
Logic would tell you that they would try to place you in a Public Heath position. What you need to do is make these folks tell you what you will be going in for. They ahve that ability, dont let them just simply find a home for you. Keep in mind that as an officer they can place you just about anywere they need you, but you have to come in under some kind of specialty. Get back with your officer accessions folks with the Air Force and the CG and make them give you the answers you seek... If not look into another service
