Question
My husband is currently in Basic training at Lackland AFB. I was told after that he will go to Goodfellow AFB for his school. His job will be Intel- Applications apprentice. I was also told that if his school was not longer than 6 months I couldn't move there. I know he has to live in the dorms, but I could I voluntarily move out there? I also heard that if he was doing well in school and obeying he could ask permission to live off base with me. I was wondering if you knew exactly how long his school is, and whether or not I can move out there.

Answer
I know thgat this is something that you are probably not going to want to hear, but Stay home... The reason that I say that is your Husband is still in a training setting. He is going to need to stay focused in the few weeks that he will be there. I am not saying that you couldnt go and visit for a weekend, but the expense of setting up a place to live for a few months only to pick up and move again is not only not cost effective, but will end up costing you both more money that you should have to spend.

At the end of his training, he will be allowed to return home and then from there will be able you both will be able to pack up and move to the next duty station. Believe me when I say this.... Its easier on you both....just visit.

If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!!
