OK, I am a graduate of Navy SEAL Training (its on my DD214), but i was discharged 3 years ago, but i had an NDRB and my discharge was upgraded to let me enter the national guard.  I was told I could keep my same rank and transfer to the navy after 3 months of service (told this by a higher ranking enlisted man recruiter bout a year and a half ago.  I want to know if I can transfer back to my last command in the navy, or what is the minimum amount of time I can serve in the guard and get out with an honorable discharge and join the navy again with an honorable as opposed to a general discharge?

Answer
I am not sure about the transfering top a specific Navy unit, that will have to be directed to the Navy Personnel Department and the section who dals with transfers or assignments.

The other is easy. If you serve your term of enlistment, then you will get an Honorable DC. The discharge only covers the time period that you were in ...

All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
