Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/I have a question reguarding an MOS
Expert: Cynthia Bedell - 4/7/2008
QuestionGood afternoon, I have recently signed up for the U.S. Army and just completed my MEPS entry course. My MOS is 94F and I have looked high and low for information a little bit more comprehensive than just the regular info at the goarmy.com website. If perhaps you could elaborate on anything that I might be doing out in the field I would be very...very appreciative. I've herd different things, my recruiter said something like I would be working with computers... another NCO told me that I would be working more with communications equipment, and most people just figure that I'd be working with computers. Seems like I should have picked 25B, lol.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Pvt. Caleb Williams
AnswerDear Caleb --
As a 94F, you will repair communications equipment: Radios, antennae, repeater stations, and more. Some of the communications systems will include computers, but your specialty is more focused on the specialty military communications equipment. With this MOS you are part of the Signal Corps. You will be a key member of the team that keeps the command's communications systems running.
If you only wanted to work on computers, then 25B would have been a better choice for you. However, you will get great technical training in your current MOS. After a couple years, you could apply to change MOSs, especially if you do very well in your first assignment. All Soldiers will eventually work with computers in a basic way, as a 94F you will get very technical training, that will help in other technical careers that might interest you.
Good luck to you. Thank you for taking on the responsibility of military service.
