Question
Hi Mr. Lorenz,
I am 27 years old & just recently entlisted into the USAF, shipping to basic in a few months.  I have Bachelors degree in Business Mgmt with a 2.49 GPA.  My recruiter said my GPA was too low to come in as an officer, so I enlisted. Everything was 100% at the MEPS physical except my hearing which I believe was because I was feeling under the weather.  They told me I couldn't retake my hearing exam since they said it wasn't the lowest score. I was assigned the job of Civil Engineer Apprentice, not the job of Air Traffic Controller I originally wanted as enlisted because of my hearing score.  I plan on enrolling in an online school after tech school to pursue a Master's Degree.  My question is, with regards to my age, education and hearing score can I still be an Airforce Navigator?

Answer
What you need to do is when you get to you permanant duty station, go to the hospital there and have them recheck your hearing, then apply to cross train to the Air Controller job....as far as I know, the nav position should be ok....Be sure that the docs recheck you when you get on to active duty. You have to understand that everything that you have gone thru now is for entery standards... once you are in its different.

Oh and send me the name and phone number of your recruiter...I have a question to ask him.... Thanks

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
