Question
QUESTION: Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I’m 24 years old, about two years ago I caught a misdemeanor weapons charge; I was placed on misdemeanor probation. About 5 months later I was charged with Felony violation of probation for possession of a firearm and ammo while prohibited. I decided not to include all the details and circumstances of how all this happened to me because it doesn't matter it happened and now I have to live with it. I’m not a bad person or a criminal but I have this record, When I get off probation would the Airforce let me join? If not, my other question is do all branches of the military have the same standards as far as who they will take?

Thanks,
    Adam

ANSWER: You could try to apply 90 days after you are finished with your probation, but the waiver required will he a HQ USAF waiver. Those are RARELY approved. Its not impossible, but highly unlikely.

QUESTION: If I got my record expunged would it help my chances of getting in?

If the Airforce said no would the Army or Marines might still consider me?

Answer
All the services will look at it. The biggest thing is that regardless of the outcome you still have to divulge the information becasue when they do the records check, it will show that you were arrested, charged and then the final disposition ...what ever that meay be. Expunged records are for general civillian puropses...not the government(Big brother knows all)what you would need to no is get the charges completely dismissed...that would be Ideal.

I know that the Army and the Marines able to do more as far as getting waivers passed etc. The entry standards are lower and the possibilities are greater. You are headed down the right path, but always keep your self prepared for the worse....
