Question
QUESTION: Well my question goes as follows, I am a 7041 in the USMC (aviations operations clerk) more or less an ATC paper pusher, and to be honest I would like to do this job in the air force, I think the USMC was not the correct life style choice for me. I have never gotten an NJP or page 11 so my record is clean and I have been in for over 2 years. How would I be able to change branches? I would be willing tostart another 4 year contract to switch now.

ANSWER: To be honest...The Air Force may take you but not in that capacity...would have to be Pararescure or another combat related role. You may have the opprotunity to do this iin the Air Force reserve or Air Natl guard...

QUESTION: ok so now that i know this, how would i go about doing it ASAP? thanks for the feedback tho, it puts some light on the subject at least

Answer
You have to start talking to the Air Force recruiters as soon as 3 months before youare due to ETS or separate. The recruiter can get paperwork started, then once youare out, then he can start the paperwork to get you enlisted in the Air Force. He will also be able to tell you what postions you can get into.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
