Question
I was in the navy and got out with a honorable discharge after my enlistment was over. Eight years later i decided to go back but was turned away due to not getting promoted within a specific time(e-3 to e-4). I joined the army have been promoted to e-4 and believe i will get promoted to e-5 before my enlistment is up. I will be 37 with a communications background. What do i need to do so i can get back in the navy. thanks

Answer
THe first thing you need to do is place a call to the Navy recruiting office to see if they will even take you. I know that they will take prior service personnel but I am not familiar with Navy regulation all that much. I can only go on recollection from what the office did when I was activly recruiting. I think that the main problem for you will be is that you face loosing your rank if you cross service lines again. You may end up in the same situation again...

I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
