Question
Hi, my fiance wants to enlist in the military.  I am originally from Hawaii, I just had a baby, and I really want to go back home (suffering from postpartum depression).  Is there any way to guarantee a station in Hawaii, either at Hickam if he joins the AF or Kaneohe if he joins the marines?  Are there any MOS's in the marines that only exist in Hawaii to guarantee a station there, or any AFSC's in the Air Force that could do the same?  Thank you so much for your time in reviewing my question.

Aloha,
Jessica

Jessica...

No there are no guarantees in the military. He can apply to go to Hawaii, but realistic...no. I have been trying to get there for years..

Closest I got is California!

The thing that you have to remember is that Post Partum depression is treatable. and it goes away after awhile. If you need to go home, then while he is in BMT go home. He will be gone for awhile... But be prepared to move to where ever the Air Force sends him when the time comes...Now he can apply for a year remote to Korea. If he is chosen for this, then he could choose Hickam as a folow on, but they rarley send first term aimen to Korea right off...just depends on the job...

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
