Question
can the army find out if you have an GED or not.

Answer
If you cannot produce proof of graduation from high school (transcripts) or a GED (certificate), the Army will assume you have neither.  This will put you in a very low level as far as quality of recruits is concerned.

If you have graduated from college, then only your college transcripts matter and a high school degree or lack thereof is irrelevant.
